A Well Deserved Award

Before I married Dave I was keenly aware that he was the kind of man who knew exactly what he wanted and went after it with full conviction.  Dave wanted to be a teacher.  He felt it was his calling.  I also knew he was one of those quietly brilliant people who could make, oh, so much more money doing anything else but teaching.  But Dave was firm.  Teaching is what he wanted to do.  And over the years Dave has been passionate about his choice in careers.  He loves teaching and loves physics and relates really well to the kids who are always vying for a position in his classes.

Dave has been teaching for 18 years.  One year was an internship in Utah, 11 years at Sultan HS, and the last 6 years have been here at Snohomish HS.   He has become so good at what he does that after two years at SHS he became the department head of the science dept.  People learned very quickly that Dave was someone who could be depended on from hiring new staff to getting an important project done.  Dave is always their man.  He has also won many multi-thousand dollar grants to improve the science department.  This spring Dave was awarded the "Educator of the Year award" for the second time.  The first one he recieved from Sultan HS.  It is well deserved and, although Dave is too humble about it, I am very proud.  Congratulations Dave!
