Out My Kitchen Window

Today I cut down the dead blooms from my peony bushes. It is always a sad day for me when I have to bid my beloved peony blooms farewell for another year. I find myself missing them all year and then watching and waiting at my kitchen window, starting in February the next year, for the very first sign of new and tender reddish sprouts from the ground. I protect them from little feet that would trample them and watch and wait for that glorious spring day when the lustrous buds appear. Only a few days after those buds appear will they open up to reveal the majesty of the peony flower. Oh, how I love that day! But, as the peony blooms fade away, I am consoled with the other things that bloom in my view from out of my kitchen window. It is a small summer token after what spring had blessed me with. But it will do, for now. Farewell my beautiful friends...until next year.

Your yard is absolutely beautiful! Even without the peonies.

Thank you so much, Beth. We have been working on it for the last 2 years. It is finally getting where I want it to be. I only waited about 12 years for this. LOL!!! :D
