Notice the swings caught in the swift current. The water on the Pilchuck was about 18 feet ABOVE normal. This is where we spent the day today. The banks of the river are now very steep and there is much less flat land to put your towel.
The flood came and took all the wood chips and left deposits of river sand, piles of it all over the playground. It also took all the swings, and an entire cross bar where two of the swings hung. Several of the pieces of equipment were destroyed and barricaded from use. This was a devastating flood.
If you look carefully at this last picture, to the far left, you see a huge dent in the pole of the structure where the swings hung. This is most likely where a log ran into the pole propelled by the extremely swift current.
There is alot of work to be done to restore this beautiful play ground to what it was just 5 months ago. Maybe one day it will be beautiful again!

Are there plans to restore the park? It's one of our favorites, too! And we really miss not having the playground available.
