Dave is a high school physics teacher. And he always brings his job home with him. He finds things from everyday life and turns it into a teachable principle. He waits for the perfect opportunity to present itself and then uses that moment to teach the children an important lesson, physical and spiritual. I think it is quite amazing that he can do this. I know it is one of his “gifts of the Spirit”. It is quite effective with our children.

Dave loves physics. And he has always been fascinated with the laws of the universe and how they work. Take Newton's 3rd law, for instance. He has a bed of nails that he keeps in his classroom. The kids LOVE it when he does this demonstration. He lays down on the bed of nails and puts another bed of nails on his chest. He then has a colleague break a pile of bricks over the top of him with a sledge hammer. With full force, the hammer falls, the bricks break, but Dave comes out unscathed. It takes a lot of faith in Newton’s 3rd law
(the sledge hammer exerts a force on the bricks and the bricks exert a force back on the sledge hammer therefore canceling out any force on the victim - Dave) and the Dispersal of weight principle to do this.

Life is a lot like laying on a bed of nails. It takes a lot of faith in the principles to get through our trials. With these trials comes the blessing of people who are placed in our lives to teach us the things that we need to know to get through these challenges. Dave is one of those placed in our lives to teach us that if you believe and have faith then you will be alright in the end. Thank goodness for Dave and the bed of nails.

I sure couldn't do that even if I knew I wouldn't be hurt. He is brave.
