Portland

Last weekend Dave and I went on our annual weekend getaway.  I have to say, it could have been better.  It was freezing and raining most of the time.  We didn't get many pictures because I couldn't take my hands out of my coat long enough to get one.  But here it is in a nutshell:

We went to the OMSI museum and at the paleontology center they had some really cool dinosaur bones.  I even got to touch them.  WAY COOL!!!  We also saw a movie at the Omnimax about, what else, but dinosaurs.  Sea reptiles, actually.  They are very different by the way.  Then we did some shopping in down town.   Oh HELLO...crazy!  The people were crazy, the streets were crazy, navigating around was even a little stressful for my city boy.  There was one man who stood on a corner with a shopping cart full of stuff in plastic bags yelling for a woman to stop walking away from him.  He'd say, "Martha, don't you walk away from me.  I'm calling you Martha, you come back here right now."  over and over.  There was no one there.  Kinda weird.

On the second day we went to the Portland temple.  It was gorgeous.  After that we checked out and went to a place called the Pittock mansion for the rest of the day.  WOW!  This place was 16,000 sq. ft., 4 levels, and we still didn't see it all.  It even had an elevator.  We had a lot of fun running around trying to figure out the floor plan.  The grounds were expansive as well.  If it had been warmer we would've spent more time investigating the grounds.  About 43 acres worth.

All in all, it was nice to get away from the kids and sleep.  I think I need another weekend getaway...somewhere WARMER!!!

Kathy you have inspired me to plan a getaway with my sweet husband. I think it's wonderful you guys make the time to spend time without kids. Too bad it couldn't have been warmer, but did you see the sun? :)
