The kids were so excited. It had been a rough week and we were really needing this time as a family to relax and unwind. We had planned a grand adventure. The kind Dave and I used to go on before the children came. We were going to get in the car and just go. We were heading over to Whidbey Island to explore what there was to see and do. Dave and I have been there a few times but had never taken the children over. There were bunkers to climb in and on and around, light houses to tour, there were gardens and farms to experience, museums to see, there were beaches to play on, a little bit of old town shopping for mommy, and of course there was the ferry ride over. We packed lunches and jackets and extra pants, socks and shoes considering the little boys can't ever stay dry. We piled in the car and took off only 15 minutes behind schedule. "drip, drip, drop". A quick stop for some gas and off we go. "pitter, patter, plop, kerplop..... splosh-swish, splash-swipe...swish, swipe, swish, swipe"

Oh well, we will have to try this adventure another time. You've got to love the Pacific Northwest. Time to head home for some hot apple cider and forts in the living room.
